Solar panel costs and savings in Costa Rica
A useful solar quote starts with your electricity use, roof and backup priorities. Panel count alone does not tell you what the installed system will cost or how much it will save.
What changes the installed price?
The main factors are solar capacity, inverter power, battery capacity and installation work. Roof condition, shading, cable routes and changes to the electrical installation also affect the proposal.
Suntiago provides property-specific quotes rather than fixed packages. Compare proposals by what is included: equipment, installation, selected backup circuits, commissioning, warranty terms and support.
Use your ICE bills to estimate savings
Several recent bills help establish consumption in kWh and seasonal changes. We also ask when you use electricity: daytime demand can use solar directly, while evening demand may need stored energy.
Our systems use solar in the home and store available energy in batteries; they are not designed to sell electricity to ICE. Savings depend on production, consumption, tariffs and system settings.
A real example from Santiago
Our Santiago residential project combines 6.6 kWp of solar panels, a 12 kW inverter and a 10 kWh battery. The homeowner reported monthly ICE bills falling from approximately US$400 to US$100: a difference of about US$300, or 75%.
Those are customer-reported bills for one home, not a guaranteed result. If that monthly difference stayed constant, it would equal about US$3,600 per year. Weather, occupancy and electricity use can change the outcome.

How should you assess payback?
A simple starting point is installed cost divided by estimated annual savings. A fuller comparison also accounts for maintenance, equipment replacement, financing and changing electricity costs. Backup during outages has value, but it is separate from bill savings.
Before choosing a size, decide whether your priority is a lower bill, outage protection or both. We use that decision and a site assessment to prepare your proposal.
